By signing up for online services, you will be able to complete a variety of different tasks online rather than having to come in to the practice:

• Submit an online consultation request
• View past and future appointments
• Order recent and regular repeat medications

These online services are as safe as online banking as long as you keep your passwords secure, and you can access these services 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Step 1: Download the NHS App 

1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your smartphone or tablet. 

1. Search for "NHS App". 

1. Select the NHS App from the search results. 

1. Tap "Install" or "Get" to download and install the app on your device. 

Step 2: Open the NHS App 

1. Open the NHS App by tapping its icon on your home screen or app drawer. 

Step 3: Register for an Account 

1. Tap "Continue" on the welcome screen. 

1. Tap "Register" to start the registration process. 

Step 4: Enter Your Email Address 

1. Enter email address in the provided field. 

1. Create a password for NHS account. Make sure it meets the required criteria (e.g., minimum length, includes a mix of letters and numbers). 

1. Tap "Continue". 

Step 5: Verify Email Address 

1. Check email inbox for a verification email from the NHS App. 

1. Open the email and click the verification link. 

1. Return to the NHS App. 

Step 6: Enter Mobile Number 

1. Enter mobile phone number in the provided field. 

1. Tap "Continue". 

Step 7: Enter the Verification Code 

1. Check mobile phone for a text message containing a verification code. 

1. Enter the verification code in the NHS App. 

1. Tap "Continue". 

Step 8: Set Up Security Questions 

1. Choose and answer a set of security questions. These will be used to verify your password is forgotten 

1. Tap "Continue". 

Step 9: Verify Identity 

1. Select "Use your NHS login" or "Prove your identity" to verify identity. 

1. If using NHS login: 

• Enter your NHS number or another personal identifier. 

• Provide your date of birth. 

• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification. 

1. If proving your identity manually: 

• Select the type of ID (passport, driving license, or other photo ID). 

• Take a photo of ID using your device’s camera. 

• Record a short video of as instructed by the app to match ID. 

• Upload any additional documents if requested. 

Step 10: Wait for Verification 

1. Wait for the NHS App team to verify identity. This may take some time (usually a few hours to a couple of days). 

1. Receive an email or notification once your identity is verified. 

Step 11: Complete Profile 

1. Log in to the NHS App using your email address and password. 

1. Complete any remaining profile details such as linking to your GP surgery and entering additional personal information if required.
